Wentworth Institute of Technology has named Dr. Sedef Doganer its new dean of the School of Architecture and Design. She will also hold the title of Professor of Architecture.

Doganer joins Wentworth from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Over the last 13 years she served as department chair for Architecture as well as associate dean of Design, Inclusion, and Engaged Scholarship for two colleges.

She began her academic career at Akdeniz University in Turkey, where she rose to the level of associate dean and then dean of Serik Community College of Fine Arts during her seven-year tenure. While at Akdeniz University, she founded the Architecture program in the College of Fine Arts. Doganer received her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Architecture from Istanbul Technical University.

At UTSA, Doganer partnered with faculty and staff to initiate new programs, dual degrees, and certificates to better prepare students as future professionals and practitioners in a rapidly changing workplace. Under her leadership, she established a dual-credit program with two high schools and grew 2+2 transfer agreements with community colleges.

While in San Antonio, Doganer expanded UTSA’s corporate and non-profit partnerships, established the Department’s Advisory and Advocacy Council, and engaged actively with alumni. She also increased the university’s global reach by initiating international collaborations, projects, and workshops with Mexico, Turkey, Colombia, Turkmenistan, and South Korea.
