Student Profile: Douglas Labun

Electronic Engineering Technology

What did you enjoy most about your program?

The hands on training in lab with professors that had industry experience. Getting an answer to an engineering question was very easy thanks to the wide variety of fields our professors worked in.

What was your most memorable college experience?

Senior Design Project....At lot of interesting things happened with that class and it's very unusually to have to so much control over what we did in class from day to day.

What did you like best about co-op, where did you do it, what was your position?

NextEra Energy / Seabrook Nuclear Power Station: nuclear instrumentation & control specialist.

The best part of co-op was the ability to get a job as a full-time student in such a unique environment. I was working in an environment most plant employees never saw, let alone other college students. Thanks to the co-op program I was able to better plan my future and decide to focus on the nuclear power industry.

What are your future plans?

I was hired by Entergy / Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station as a control instrument specialist. I was hired before I had even graduated.

What is your reaction to graduating from college?

It's bittersweet, I will miss the faculty and staff at Wentworth, but I cannot wait to start working full time. After spending three semesters on co-op throughout college, I am more than ready to start a career.
